Ali Reads... Romances for PRIDE

This month, Ali Williams brings us an epic list of her favorite LGBTQIADPPN romances to celebrate PRIDE. Prepare to crack open your wallet and abuse your credit card!

Remember, just click on the cover and a link will take you there.

I love how inclusive Romancelandia can be, if we let it, and what better way to celebrate PRIDE month than with a list of recs? I've limited myself to three books for each letter in LGBTQIADPPN - because otherwise this piece would last forever—but romances can celebrate the diversity we see in the world, and more importantly, it should.

As a queer woman (one could argue I'm fairly bifurious), I cannot emphasize enough how important it has been to see bisexual heroines and f/f romances within this genre. And in the same way, I know what it must mean for my queer siblings—cis and trans, asexual and poly, intersex and non-binary—to see themselves reflected in books which revel in giving them the HEA they deserve.

So, let's get reading!

Not only does she have to spend hours learning her routine, she has to do it with one of the grumpiest men she’s ever met. Tyler turns out to be more than a dedicated dancer, though — he might be the kind of man who can sweep her off her feet, literally and figuratively.

Tyler Davis has spent the last year recovering from an emotionally abusive relationship. So he doesn’t need to be pushed into a rushed routine for a dumb competition. Ticking major representation boxes for being trans and biracial isn’t why he went into dance. But Evie turns out to be a dream student. In fact, she helps him remember just how good partnering can be, in all senses of the word. Teaching her the routine, however, raises ghosts for him, ones he’s not sure he can handle.

Writing Her In by Holley Trent

There’s room in a heart for more than one kind of love.

Dara and Adrien Valliere are soul mates and best friends…but they’re not lovers. Their marriage may be unconventional, but it’s satisfying and loving, and they’ve never needed anything or anyone else.

Until they met writer Stacia Leonard.

Stacia built a career on maintaining close ties with her fictional characters while keeping everyone else at arm’s length. She avoids intimacy, apart from a few one-night stands when the loneliness and need become too much. But when Adrien Valliere, her cover model and long-distance friend, invites her for drinks, she’s too fascinated to refuse.

Dara recognizes the physical attraction between her husband and Stacia and sees it for what it is: an opportunity to help Adrien get what he needs. Dara can breathe easy knowing that both she and her husband are happy.

Before long, though, it’s clear that Stacia’s connection isn’t just with Adrien… She and Dara have something special, and it’s something neither of them can—or want to—deny.
